Norfolk and Suffolk Nature Recovery Strategies

Public consultation is open.
A team, working across both Norfolk and Suffolk County Councils, have been tasked with producing the strategies. The aim of these is to direct actions across the region to protect and restore biodiversity, alongside wider environmental benefits such as improved flood mitigation, climate change resilience and improved water quality.
They have been working on the development of these strategies for approximately 18 months, in a collaborative fashion using the Norfolk and Suffolk Nature Recovery Partnership.
They would like to make you aware of the consultations that are now open and live, until 11th June 2025, which allow you to view their strategy documentation and the associated mapping. These outline their priority species and habitats, and indicate what could be actioned to improve nature across the counties, including suggested locations.
This is an important opportunity to review the draft strategies including the maps. This means you can have your say on the priorities and actions proposed to help nature recover across Norfolk, and Suffolk if applicable to you.
You can take part in the consultations here:
For the Norfolk consultation and survey visit www.norfolk.gov.uk/naturerecovery
For the Suffolk consultation and survey visit Local Nature Recovery Strategy - Suffolk County Council
Please note that these are legally 2 separate strategies - you can respond to both if applicable to you, or just the relevant county.
Taking part involves answering some specific questions to gather your views, and also allows you to feedback directly about locations using our mapping tool.
We recommend viewing the map on a desktop or laptop computer rather than on Android or iOS devices due to compatibility issues.
