World Book Day 4.3.21

We are postponing our school World Book Day celebrations for 2021 until everyone has returned to school. We will be celebrating with events all day on Thursday 25th March 2021. More details about what we are going to be doing and how everyone can join in will follow shortly.

In the meantime we will still join celebrations on Thursday 4th March. Enjoy celebrating by completing some of these activities to mark the occasion.

Write a book review

Here are some tips to help you with writing your book review:

  • Start with a couple of sentences describing what the book is about.

  • Who was your favourite character and why?

  • Did the characters feel real for you? What made them that way?

  • Did the story keep you guessing?

  • What was your favourite part and why?

  • Were particular scenes well written? Explain.

  • Did the book make you laugh or cry? Give examples.

  • Did it grip you and keep you turning the pages? How?

  • Was there anything you dislike about the book? Explain.

  • Round up your review - summarise some of your thoughts about the book by suggesting the type of reader you would recommend the book to.

  • Does it compare to any other books you have read? Give examples.

  • Give it a mark out of 10.

Why not try the Take 5 Y3/4 The Werewolf Club Rules resource. It has 5 simple activities designed to develop children’s comprehension skills and strategies and develop their imagination and creativity for writing. You do not need a copy of the book, extracts are provided.
